My lifelong motto has been, “If you don’t try, you can’t fail. If you do fail, get up and try again.”
Since I have committed to trying every sport once in my life, I signed up for this year’s “Gillie Girls Sprint Triathlon” in Camillus, NY. I’ve been a lifelong swimmer, avid weekly biker, and runner. I’ve never combined them, but I can't fail if I don’t “try a triathlon,” right?
The bonus of this July 27, 2025 race is that it is hosted by the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Fund, which receives the proceeds. My friend Teresa D. Huggins passed away from complications of breast cancer two years ago. She told me once that she signed up for a triathlon after losing a friend to breast cancer. I will swim, bike, and run in Teresa’s memory.
My question for you today is, why not try something new? It doesn’t have to be a “tri” but anything else that inspires and motivates you and raises awareness and funds for a worthy cause. I say it’s worth a try!
